Little Kickers Information

The Little Kickers program was started in the Fall of 2006 after many years of requests to start a program for the pre-school age children in the Oak Hills school system. While we did try to operate under some of the same concepts as the regular SAY program, we made the decision to make some changes for the benefit of the kids. After seeking and receiving some parent feedback, we decided to start the program a few weeks later than the regular program and limit the season to 8 weeks. We also decided to combine the practices and games into one night per week where the first 25-30 minutes would be for practice and the last 25-30 minutes would be for games. Feedback at the end of the season was very positive on this format.

The Little Kickers program is a late Summer / early Fall only program. Registration for the program begins in April and continues into June or until all teams are full.

For the current Fall program, we plan to run a similar program as we have in past years. As always, we will be looking for parents and older siblings to help out with the program. Unlike, the regular SAY program, coaches have fewer responsibilities and mostly just need to show up to help. All equipment will be provided each night and there should be little to no calls or outside work to be performed.

After registration is complete, players will be assigned to teams by balancing the number of boys and girls and the number of 4 and 5 year old players as much as possible. Parents will be notified by mail and/or phone as to the team assignments. The start date will be set and the first night will be a "get know everyone night" where the players can practice some, and the parents will have a chance to ask any questions that are on their minds. The second week will be the start of real practices and games. Games are not formal and keeping score is not encouraged. It is all about introducing the game of soccer to these younger kids and allowing them to have fun and learn to play on a team.

Additional information will be posted on this page as we get nearer to the start of the season and as the season progresses.
